Welcome to the primary art world of smARTIES! The art students will embark on exciting art adventures where they will learn about the elements of art and how to apply them in their own unique way. We will explore new art tools and materials and how to use them. We will learn and discuss master artists of the past and present, explore different cultures, traditions, and apply our cross-curricular knowledge too! The art curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and encourage self-expression.

Primary Music

Hello from the music room! This year, our students are exploring musical elements through activities, games, singing, movement, instruments, and more. As we build foundational music skills, we discuss connections between music and the world around us. Throughout the year, we engage in lessons, read books, and participate in collaborative unit studies with the other Encore classes that connect music to other aspects of our lives. We also showcase the musical skills we have learned throughout the year during our grade-level music performances. Each year, our 2nd Grade students are featured in a winter program, and the 1st Grade and Kindergarten students perform music programs during the spring semester. We love showing our families and community members the amazing musical talent that our youngest musicians possess. We hope to see you there!

Hello from the Library! Your kids will check out books weekly during their library class! We have over 13,000 books in our collection. Some of the most popular books are the Dogman series, books by the author Mo Willems, the Show Me award nominees and winners and nonfiction animal books.
There are two book fairs during the school year. We love book fair time! Look for information to come home in November and April. I will be having a Family Night and open times during the day that parents can come in to shop. We use the funds to purchase books and other needs for our school.
I am looking forward to a year of learning about what authors and illustrators do, parts of books, and the various genres of books!
Primary Physical Education

Greetings all and welcome to physical education. During the time that your kiddos have PE they are going to learn multiple skills such as simple ones from, skipping, hopping, sliding, walking, running, and even galloping. These are skills that are going to be used not only in primary school but also down the road in other schools. To hard skills such as overhand throw to underhand toss. All skills that can be used in daily life. During this year I hope to grow these kids into loving physical education and being active.
