We are working hard in second grade! We are excited about the fall weather and continuing our learning journey!
In math, we will finish module 1 with place value concepts through measurement and metric data and begin module 2 which focuses on addition and subtraction within 200.
Our reading workshop will help us become adept at reading non-fiction. We will work on inferring, drawing conclusions, main ideas and details, the author's purpose, and the order of events in the story.
In our writing workshop, we will focus on the practical guide to writing nonfiction. Students will write an informative/explanatory text and apply the research process to their writing. Students will continue to reread, revise, and edit drafts using the skills learned to strengthen writing as needed.
Please watch for information coming home about
parent-teacher conferences from your classroom teacher. The conferences will be on Wednesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 27.
FALL PARTY information is also coming home this month, so keep an eye out for details on that too! The day of the party is scheduled for Thursday, October 27.
FIELD TRIPS: Second grade teachers have submitted field trip permission forms via Google form. If you haven't received it yet, please contact your teacher. Our first field trip this year will be to Kauffman Stadium in December.
The weather this month can be unpredictable, so remember to check the weather every day. Students will need jackets or coats on many cold fall days, so send them to school with one and help keep our immune systems healthy!
