District reminds families of mask mandate on school buses
During the November 16, Board of Education meeting, the board voted in favor of staff and students in the district are no longer required to wear masks while on campus and in the classroom effective November 30. But the district, reminds parents and families, although the mask mandate is lifted on campus and inside school buildings, face coverings will still be required when riding school buses, per federal guidelines.
Traveling on public transportation increases a risk of getting and spreading COVID-19 by bringing people in close contact with others, so this past January, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) issued an COVID-19 Order, requiring all passengers to wear a mask on any form of transportation not considered a private vehicle – including school buses. That mandate still stands.
The district will continue to monitor cases of COVID-19 within the district and re-evaluate, if necessary.
